Technology has significantly affected the automotive industry
resulting in today's vehicles being significantly more advanced from
those manufactured 5 years ago. The introduction of low fuel
consumption & emissions, fuel injection and sophisticated computer
systems has ceased the days of 'backyard repairs'.
OSTTC's unique blend of classroom and hand on training will produce
well trained individuals ready to join the automotive service trade
with accountability, pride and discipline.

Admission Requirement:
Formal interview with Administrative Officer
Grade 12 or equivalent
G1 driver's classification to enter program
G2 driver's license classification prior to completion of
training

Topics for both manual and automatic systems include:

Intense training prepares participants for a career in the natural gas
and/or propane industry. Candidates work towards a fuel-related G.3
Ontario certificate of qualification from the Technical Standards and
safety Authority [TSSA]. Along with informative and user-friendly CSA
training material, students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on,
practical activities in the well equipped shop.

Admission Requirement:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Course Outline and Information
There are nine modules of instruction in the G3 program including:
- Safety [on-job, acts and regulations, hazardous
materials]
- Fasteners, tools and testing instruments
- Properties characteristics and safe handling of fuel
gases
- Utilization codes, acts and regulations
- Introductions to electricity
- Technical manuals, specifications, drawings and graphs
- Customer relations
- Introduction to piping and tubing systems
- Introduction to gas appliances
Our TSSA approved laboratory provides students with hands-on practical
applications as well as visual aids to enhance the learning
environment.
Hours and Duration:
Days: Eight week program, Monday to Friday 9am to 4:30pm [280 hours]
Nights: 25 sessions [4 hours each] - Twice weekly, occasional Saturdays
[140 hours plus exam time]

OSTTC has a unique approach to Welder Training based on the needs of
the student entering the welding field. In order for the student to get
a firm grasp on entry level welding, our training programs are designed
to teach proper welding skills and instill good work ethics. This course
involves various types of welding, to ensure the knowledge and proper
skills needed to obtain the All Position welding tickets. Training is
achieved through theory and hands on experience.

Preference for grade 12 or equivalent, must be 18 years of age or
older
Willing to travel for employment and must have reliable
transportation.
Course Outline and Information:
Theory and practical work include preparation for:
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding(SMAW)
- Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG)
- Oxy-Acetylene Cutting and Plasma Cutting
Additional Classes include:
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
[WHMIS]
- Introduction to Health and Safety Training
- A basic introduction to welding theory and practices
- Introduction to blueprint reading and welding symbols
Full time participants in the program are provided with: welding helmet,
gloves, chipping hammer, wire brush and a welding jacket.
Hours and Duration:
eight week program, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
Note: part time and evening courses may be considered if enrolment is
substantial.
