This program is offered in partnership with Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology and Ogwehoweh Skills and Trades Training Centre. The two semester certificate program highlights small business management for Aboriginal people.
Interested individuals will experience an exceptional blend of academic content, practical training and advice through panel discussions, seminars and workshops focusing on planning, start up and future development of a successful small business.
Admission Requirements:
Are admitted based upon their degree of interest in starting a small business
Grade 12 English, general, advanced, C or U
Grade 10 Math, general, advanced, applied or academic

This course is ideal for the individual who literally has been "thrown" into performing accounting tasks but doesn’t not have an accounting background. It is also ideal for candidates considering the entrepreneurial path providing a solid base and understanding of accounting.
This non-computer course is a great balance between theory and hands-on, practical work.
Admission and Requirements:
Participants must have a willingness to attend each class and ask questions to get the most from the instructor-lead series.

- Accounting principals, concepts and guidelines
- Role of the bookkeeper and accountant
- The Chart of Accounts - sifting through papers to determine what to keep and for how long
- computerized accounting programs and the types of reports to expect

Individuals wishing to travel the entrepreneurial trail may benefit significantly from this six week course. The course objective: to assist with training and research to develop a business plan.
A solid business plan is required to seek financial assistance as well as provides direction for the business. Participants will complete all market research, data and financial analysis.
Admission Requirement:
Academic: Grade 12 or equivalent
Work experience review on an individual case by case basis in lieu of Grade 12
Must be 18 years of age or older with basic computer skills.

Each 5 day week consists of a three-day theoretical component with instructor lead classes and a two-day practical component to allow participants to work on completing their business plan.
